The Cross: Choosing Humility Over Resentment

The Cross: Choosing Humility Over Resentment

Jesus was not humbled by others—He humbled Himself. He became obedient to death, even death on a cross, embracing suffering and shame out of love for us. The cross is not just a symbol of sacrifice, but of the kind of self-emptying love that should shape every part of our lives.
We are called to follow Jesus in this path of costly obedience. This means choosing humility even when it is hard, even when it means letting go of our rights or enduring misunderstanding. The way of the cross is not easy, but it is the way to true life and love.

Hebrews 12:2-3 (KJV): “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.”

Reflection: Is there a situation where you are tempted to resist or resent a hard path God is asking you to walk? How might you embrace humility and obedience in that area today?
