Stewardship Means Managing God’s Gifts, Not Claiming Ownership

Stewardship Means Managing God’s Gifts, Not Claiming Ownership

Everything we have; our time, talents, resources, and even our stories, has been entrusted to us by God. We are not owners, but stewards, called to manage His gifts faithfully and wisely. This means recognizing that our possessions and abilities are not ultimately ours to keep, but tools to be used for God’s purposes and glory.

Faithful stewardship is about accountability, not entitlement. It’s easy to slip into the mindset that we deserve what we have or that we can use it however we please. But God calls us to honor Him with what He has given, knowing that He is watching how we manage His resources. When we are faithful in small things, we show that we are ready for greater responsibility. Stewardship is not about earning God’s favor, but about living in gratitude and obedience to the One who owns it all.

Luke 16:10-12 (KJV): “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?”

Reflection:
What is one resource, time, talent, or treasure, that you tend to treat as your own? How can you intentionally offer it back to God in stewardship this week?
