Christ’s Descent: The Strength of Self-Emptying

Christ’s Descent: The Strength of Self-Emptying

The humility of Jesus is beyond our comprehension. Though He was fully God, He chose to lay aside His rights and privileges, stepping down from heaven’s glory to live as a servant among us. He did not cling to status or demand recognition, but willingly embraced obscurity, misunderstanding, and rejection.
This kind of humility is not weakness—it is the greatest strength. Jesus’ self-emptying love transforms our understanding of what it means to be great. He calls us to lay aside our own claims to comfort and status, to follow Him in serving others, and to trust that God’s way is always better than our own.

2 Corinthians 8:9 (KJV): “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”

Reflection: What is one comfort, privilege, or “right” you are holding onto that God may be inviting you to lay down for the sake of someone else this week?
