Community Grows on the Road of Sacrifice

Community Grows on the Road of Sacrifice

Mary traveled around a hundred miles to be with Elizabeth. That is what love does, it goes the distance. Real spiritual friendship is forged not in convenience but in costly pursuit. Encouragement and accountability don’t float into our lives; we pursue them, schedule them, and sometimes drive across town for them.

You and I were not built to follow Jesus alone. Someone needs your presence, your prayer, your eyes across a table. And you need theirs. Rearrange the calendar if you must. Skip a comfort if you must. The joy and strength found in shared faith are worth every mile.

2 Timothy 1:16-18 (KJV): “The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain: But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me. The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.”

Reflection: Who is one person God is prompting you to encourage? Put it on your calendar to drive, call, or share a meal within 72 hours. What will you sacrifice to make it happen, and when specifically will you do it?
