Baptism is the public declaration of a prior inward transformation

Baptism is the public declaration of a prior inward transformation

The act of baptism does not produce salvation but powerfully proclaims it. It is the believer’s joyful announcement to the world that they have died to an old life of sin and have been raised to new life in Christ. It is an obedient step that visually portrays the gospel, symbolizing our union with Jesus in His death and resurrection. It is the natural and public response of a heart that has been changed.

Romans 6:4 (KJV): “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

Reflection: If you have trusted in Christ for salvation, have you followed through with the public step of believer’s baptism? If not, what has held you back from obeying the Lord in this act of identification with Him?
