God Meets Us in Our Messy Fields 2/23

God Meets Us in Our Messy Fields

God chose to announce the birth of His Son not to kings or religious elites, but to humble shepherds in a field. These were social outcasts, often stereotyped and untrusted, living on the fringes of society. Yet, it was to them that heaven's choir appeared. This reminds us that God doesn't wait for us to "have it all together" or to climb to a place of prestige. He comes to messy people in messy places, in the middle of messy seasons of life, whether they are fields of addiction, depression, grief, or financial stress. He loves to interrupt the unqualified.

Luke 2:8 (KJV): “And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.”

Reflection: Where in your current life, perhaps a challenging situation or a feeling of inadequacy, do you sense God inviting you to recognize His presence, just as He met the shepherds in their ordinary, overlooked field?
