God’s Purposes Prevail Over Human Motives
God’s Purposes Prevail Over Human Motives
People’s motives are often mixed, even in the church. Sometimes, others act out of envy, pride, or selfish ambition, and it can be discouraging when we see this—especially in ministry or among fellow believers. Yet, God’s sovereignty is not limited by human motives. He is able to use even imperfect people and impure intentions to accomplish His good purposes.
Paul found joy not in who received the credit, but in the fact that Christ was being proclaimed. This challenges us to let go of our need for recognition or control and to celebrate the advance of the gospel, even when it comes through unexpected or imperfect vessels. God’s work is bigger than any one person, and His purposes will not be thwarted by human weakness.
Genesis 50:20 (KJV): “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.”
Reflection: Is there a situation where you have struggled with jealousy or frustration over someone else’s motives or recognition? How can you choose to celebrate what God is doing, even if it doesn’t come through you?

Very Eye Opening Lesson for Me. What we fail to realize at times in our jealousy is the strife that the person receiving the accolades may have gone through.
