The Man Behind the Medals 6/22

The Man Behind the Medals

Naaman commanded Syria’s army. He won battles and earned respect. People pointed at him and called him a hero. But every night, he took off his armor. He stood before a mirror and saw the truth. He saw the sores and scars of leprosy. His success could not hide his disease.

His leprosy pictures our sin. A man can have a full bank account and an empty soul. He can earn the world's applause and still be dying inside. God sees what happens after the word "but" in our life story. Naaman had everything, "but he was a leper." Our accomplishments cannot cure our deepest need.

You may build an impressive life. You might provide for your family and protect your home. But if you never deal with your own spiritual condition, you have missed the point. The problem is not your circumstances or your critics. The problem is within. What spot of spiritual decay are you trying to hide today?

“But Naaman was a leper.” (2 Kings 5:1, KJV)

Prayer: Ask God to show you the true condition of your heart beneath your outward success.

Challenge: Write down one area of your life where your public reputation and private reality do not match.
