Receiving the Gift 6/12

Receiving the Gift

Knowing about God’s love is not enough. You must personally receive it. Salvation is a gift paid for by Jesus on the cross. Like someone offering you a dollar, God holds out this gift to you. You must take it. John 1:12 says to all who receive Him, He gives the right to become children of God. Your family’s faith or church membership cannot save you.

This decision determines your eternity. God’s love will not force itself upon you. You must respond. He calls you to come home, to receive forgiveness and new life. This is the most important moment. It is not about where you will spend the next week, but where you will spend eternity. Will you personally place your faith in Jesus Christ?

Many people know the facts but have never made it personal. They stand watching others receive the gift but never reach out to take it themselves. Do not leave today just knowing about God’s love. Experience it by receiving His Son. Have you ever personally called upon the name of the Lord to be saved?

John 1:12, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”

Prayer: Tell Jesus you are receiving Him right now as your Savior and Lord.

Challenge: If you prayed to receive Christ, tell one person about your decision today.
