From Your God to My God 6/19

From Your God to My God

Tragedy struck the widow’s home again when her son became ill and died. In her grief, she cried out to Elijah, questioning if God was punishing her for some sin. Elijah did not offer easy answers. He took her son, carried him to the upper room, and prayed honestly to God. The Lord heard Elijah’s voice and restored the boy’s life.

Elijah returned the living child to his mother. Her response shows the true miracle. She said, “Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth.” She moved from knowing about Elijah’s God to knowing Him as her own. Her famine and tragedy became the doorway to a relationship with the living God.

God often uses our deepest pains to reveal His greatest power and draw us into a deeper knowledge of Himself. He is not offended by our honest questions in suffering. He invites us to bring our confusion to Him, trusting that He is working even when we cannot see. What pain or confusion can you bring to God honestly today, trusting He can use it to reveal Himself?

“And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth.” (1 Kings 17:24, KJV)

Prayer: Pray honestly to God about a current struggle, asking Him to reveal Himself through it.

Challenge: Tell one trusted person about a time God met you in a period of difficulty.
