Astonished at His Doctrine 6/29

Astonished at His Doctrine

Jesus arrived in Capernaum on the Sabbath. He entered the synagogue and stood to teach. The people listened as He explained the Scriptures. They had spent their lives hearing rabbis quote other rabbis. But Jesus taught differently. He spoke as the Author of the Book. His words carried a weight and authority they had never experienced.

Jesus prioritized His message over His miracles. A miracle can change your circumstances for a moment. The Word of God changes your heart for eternity. He built His ministry on truth, not entertainment. He knew that when people fall in love with God’s Word, they come back because they are hungry for truth.

Many of us are constantly looking for something new. We chase new trends and strategies. But the primary work of God has always been the teaching of His Word. Programs and events have their place. Yet everything must flow from Scripture. Do you prioritize hearing God’s authoritative Word above being entertained?

“And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.” (Luke 4:32, KJV)

Prayer: Ask God to give you a fresh hunger for the truth of His Word.

Challenge: Read Luke 4:31-32 aloud and underline the phrase “his word was with power.”
