The Pattern of the Praying Christ 7/14

The Pattern of the Praying Christ

Before dawn, Jesus left the house. He went to a solitary place. He prayed. He did this before choosing His disciples. He did it before feeding the thousands. He prayed before His greatest trial in the garden. The Son of God, who knew the Father’s will perfectly, made prayer a non-negotiable priority. His life was a life of prayer.

Jesus did not pray because He lacked information. He prayed to enjoy fellowship with His Father. His prayer life shows us that dependence is strength. If Jesus needed to pray, how much more do we? He made time for what mattered most. He scheduled solitude with God.

Your schedule is full. Life will gladly fill every minute with something else. You say you have no time to pray. The truth is you fill the time you have. Jesus made time. He invites you to do the same. What one appointment can you move to make time for your Father?

“And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” (Mark 1:35)

Prayer: Thank God for the model of Jesus and ask for strength to follow it.

Challenge: Set aside ten minutes tomorrow morning for prayer before you check your phone.
