The Crowded House and Empty Hearts
Jesus taught in a crowded house. Pharisees and teachers of the law sat listening. They came from Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. They had not come hungry. They had come suspicious. Their arms were folded. Their mental clipboards were ready. They knew the verses but did not know the Voice.
These religious leaders sat within arm’s reach of healing power. Yet their pride kept them from admitting any need. They could analyze a miracle but could not perform one. They could debate what God ought to do but missed God doing it right in front of them. The house was full, but their hearts were empty.
You can sit close to Jesus and still be far from Him. You can carry a Bible and speak fluent church yet miss what God is doing. Some people come to church asking what the Lord wants to say. Others come asking what they can find wrong. Which question do you bring?
“And the power of the Lord was present to heal them.” (Luke 5:17)
Prayer: Ask God to reveal any pride that has turned you from a worshiper into a critic.
Challenge: Identify one person you have judged and pray for them by name today.
