From Spectator to Witness 10/16
From Spectator to Witness
Levi the tax collector heard Jesus say, "Follow me." He left his tax booth immediately. He did not just become a spectator. He prepared a feast and invited his friends to meet Jesus. His life was radically reoriented around his new Lord. His obedience was immediate and complete. He became a witness, not just a fan.
Jesus calls us to the same kind of whole-life response. He is not interested in patching up our old life. He wants to give us a new one. This new life requires new wineskins- new patterns, new priorities, and a new purpose. We are called to be active participants in His mission, not just consumers of religious services.
You have heard what Jesus says. The call to follow Him is a call to surrender everything. It is a call to let Him change your routines, your relationships, and your reasons for living. Will you continue to be a spectator, or will you become a witness? What is one step you can take today to move from observing to obeying?
“And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me. And he left all, rose up, and followed him.” (Luke 5:27-28)
Prayer: Pray for God to make you a witness who invites others to meet Jesus, just like Levi.
Challenge: Call or text one person this week to share what God has been teaching you.
